A Crosscut Saw gig is a hoodoo rollercoaster of pure primeval power. No hype, no image, no posturing, no deception, just true alchemy. No two performances are ever the same, even the musicians themselves don’t know what potent brew will be cooked up.
A three-piece blues roots, rock band from the UK, Yorkshire based with Alex Eden, lead singer, guitarist and harmonica player, drummer Richard Ferdinando and bass player Richard Green. The band glean inspiration from the likes of The Black Keys, Magic Sam, RL Burnside, Taj Mahal and Dr John.
The band are currently working on two main projects; a collection of original material recorded and mixed to tape in their own Trapdoor Studios and a live album of the “Virtual Duck” performances - a series of live streamed events from Trapdoor, starting with a solo performance by Alex at the First Lockdown Festival becoming a regular, popularly anticipated date, temporarily replacing their Duck and Drake residency during the pandemic.
Crosscut Saw have worked with various luminaries of the blues scene, previous members and guest musicians include; TJ Norton (TJ and the Suitcase), Paddy Wells (Dust Radio, Poorboy), Rob Bromhead (Appel 4), The Haggis Horns (Amy Winehouse), Bob Birch (New Mastersounds), Jon Burr (The Bluebirds), and Bruce Renshaw (Ultrasound, The Somatics). They have worked as the backing band for touring musicians such as Jake Walker (USA) and King Rollo (UK).
Independently Alex, Richard and Richard have worked with many others too; Otis Grand, Corrine Bailey Rae, The Captain of The Lost Waves, Ian Siegal, Blues Donor (Young Blues Musician of the year 2002), Eddie Roberts, Joe Tatton, The Blind Dead McJones Band, The Revelator Band, Hooson Maguire, The Hazy Janes, Chris Martin, Euclid Avenue, Jed Thomas, Paul Middleton, Christy Herron and played all over the world in venues large and small such as the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Glastonbury Festival and many, many others.
