Butterflies are taking over this summer, and there’s something for everyone to enjoy while finding out about these stunning creatures and their habitats.
Throughout the summer as you wander through the mangroves of the Butterfly House you will be able to get up close and personal with our fluttery friends as they fly freely around you. Using our unique Butterfly ID chart, you will be able to spot the different types of exotic species. Our animal team will be giving keeper talks at 2pm daily during the summer holidays where you will find out about the different types of butterflies and their life cycle. There’s a children's craft table at weekends, a host of butterfly toys, books and games on offer in our shop, butterfly buns on sale in the Tropical World Café and Tropical Lookout will be offering freshly made stone baked pizzas!
When you have finished wandering around Tropical World make the most of your visit and enjoy the stunning surroundings of Roundhay Park. Why not check out our NEW sculpture trail. A series of eight beautifully carved, felled beech trees, created by local artist Shane Green who specialises in chainsaw carving. Each piece representing the animals and wildlife you can discover in the park. Pick up a trail sheet map in Tropical World and enjoy the short walk to the start of the trail, inside the park.
