Gain height and refine shape - vase and bottle throwing workshop. This three hour workshop is for people who have already mastered the fundamentals of centring and pulling up to create a cylinder.
We will be learning techniques to create functional bottles and vases. this workshop focuses on the challenging techniques required to create tall, balanced forms on a pottery wheel.
There will be example bottles and vases for you to handle, so you can think about what sort of form you would like to create. You will watch a demonstration on how to throw a tall form using various tools, how to collar in and how to use formers to create your desired shape.
You will be allocated approx. 4kg of clay, so you can make a few small pieces or a couple of larger pieces. Your work will need time to dry out before being fired in the kiln. Once fired, it will be glazed and fired again. As soon as your work is ready, you will be contacted to collect it. Please allow between 4 and 6 weeks for your work to be fully processed and ready to collect.
Your pieces will be food safe, but please do not put them in the dishwasher or the microwave.
