Alan Davie and the Goblet of Fire: Abstract Expressionist to Magical Symbolist in Seven Easy Moves is an engaging illustrated talk with Christopher P Wood, who knew Alan Davie personally and discussed his work and life at first hand.

Drawing on his friendship with Davie from the mid-1990s, Christopher Wood offers unique insight into Davie’s creative process, working methods and enduring interests, including jazz, mysticism, alchemy and esoteric thought.

The talk traces Davie’s artistic journey from his important time as a Gregory Fellow at Leeds University in the 1950s through a creative career spanning over 70 years.

This session is part of Northlight Arts Centre’s Art History programme in collaboration with the Leeds Art History Group and includes time for discussion and Q&A.
