Yorkshire Dance: FRESH Challenge
Sadly, Yorkshire Dance have had to postpone FRESH 2020, our annual youth dance showcase due to COVID-19, but we hope you will join us online for our FRESH Challenge!
What is the FRESH challenge?
We are challenging you to create your very own screen dance at home and tag us in the finished video when you share it online. Simple!
What is screen dance?
Screen dance is (unsurprisingly) dance which takes place on screen. It could be a film with multiple characters and an elaborate story line, or it could be a short routine of you dancing in an unusual space in your home. It can be as creative, fun and fabulous as you like! Click here to watch some brilliant example screen dance films that were shared at our recent Family Encounters Festival.
How do I take part?
Think about where you would like to dance and who with (please only dance with people in your household until it is safe to dance with others). Get creative and film your video! Then simply tag us @yorkshiredance (on Facebook & TikTok) and @yorkshiredancepictures (on Instagram) and we will share your screen dances with the world! The challenge will run until Friday 5th June and then we will select our favourite 5 films to appear as a gallery on our website.
The T&Cs
To take part in the FRESH Challenge you must be aged 13 or over to upload your own video content. If you are under the age of 13 your parents/ guardians can upload your video content for you, but it must be uploaded to their own social media accounts. This is to comply with social media regulations in the UK. Anyone under the age of 18 must have approval of a parent or guardian to take part in the challenge and oversee the uploading and tagging of any online content.
Before taking part in any of our online activity please read the following carefully:
Make sure that you’ve got plenty of space around you to move, and you’ve cleared anything which you could injure yourself on out of the way. It’s really important that you listen to, and take responsibility for, your own body – please don’t do anything which hurts or which feels a bit difficult in the space you have. If you’re on a slippery floor, like tiles or wood, take your socks off, and if you’re on carpet, keep your socks on to protect your feet from carpet burns. Make sure you’ve got some water handy and that your body feels ready to move!
