Students from Leeds City College are putting their culinary skills to the test through a series of Student Spotlight Dinners running throughout the year.

Open to members of the public, the students, who study as part of the School of Travel, Food and Drink, will prepare, cook and serve a five-course tasting menu located in the industrial heritage surroundings of Printworks Kitchen & Bar on Hunslet Road.

These dinners aim to give the aspiring chefs hands-on industry experience in a real-life restaurant setting. Tasks such as plating dishes to managing kitchen operations will allow students to refine a range of skills vital to the catering and hospitality sector.

Culinary highlights include crispy beetroot arancini with goats cheese and black garlic, wild mushroom truffles, and pear and ricotta tart with chocolate crème anglaise. Attendees of the previous spotlight dinners have called the evening a “delightful experience all round.”
