Mini Playboxes in Leeds Libraries
Leeds Libraries' colourful Mini Playboxes are packed with fun and engaging self-serve activities for children under five and their families to enjoy in the library.
The Mini Playboxes are free to use and will be available at selected libraries in the children area throughout the day during opening hours.
Each box has six drawers full of open ended play activities which can then be recreated at home with objects you are likely to already have in the house, this open ended play supports early speech and language development, numeracy skills and encourages creative play.
Rachel Ingle-Teare, Children's Librarian, says "We love welcoming children and families to our libraries, and these Mini Playboxes will be a great start to exploration, play and learning for early years children. Discovering the the items in the playboxes, and then recreating and expanding on that creative play at home with everyday objects is what open ended play is all about. We can't wait to see how our families get involved."
