Leeds People's Theatre - Creative Workshops
The participants on our epic citizen films The Good Book and the Magician told us they wanted more specialist skills in backstage areas and we were so excited to oblige for those more interested in learning from the professionals in production areas.
Starting in April, adults of all abilities are being welcomed to try their hand at costume-making, stage make-up and video projection at The Warehouse in Holbeck. Part of the preparation for Slung Low’s epic co-production with Manchester Collective, ‘Noah’s Flood’, the show’s designers will guide participants through sewing, collage, papercraft and make-up to bring 180 child performers to life as animals, and video to transform the space.
Generously supported by Leeds 2023 Year of Culture, all equipment is provided and no experience is necessary, although those who are also a dab hand with a needle/eye liner/video camera are more than welcome… there is plenty to do!
If you’re someone who still craves the on-stage experience, there’s a key moment within the performance which requires an adult choir. This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to sing alongside world-renowned opera singers and musicians. All abilities are welcome.
You will be fully supported through evening rehearsals and two performances: 7th July at The Warehouse in Holbeck and 9th July in Manchester as part of Manchester International Festival It’s going to be epic!
So, learn some of the tricks of the trade on a variety of aspects of theatre development and design techniques with Slung Low at these workshops. Led by members of the design team for the LEEDS 2023 commissioned Slung Low co-production with Manchester Collective, 'Noah's Flood', these are workshops for adults (18+) of all levels of experience and skill from the absolute beginner to the expert and experienced, and everyone in between.
