Where did the last few months go? No we aren't sure either and it seems we have got way way behind in telling everyone about the projects being supported by the Leeds Inspired Small Grant Scheme. You might want to get comfy before scrolling through this list as it's quite long. Amazing. But long. Mainly amazing though...

Leeds Inspired Small Grants - Rounds 58, 59 & 60 (Feb-April 2021)

Ed Cooper: Twelve Seasons: New Ways to Perform Post- Lockdown
A new composition by Ryoko Akama born out of lockdown correspondence with composer Martin Nutt, based in Japan. A live performance will take place in two parts where the performance begins at The Tetley and the audience walks to Left Bank Leeds.

Julia McKinlay:  Threshold
Support for three exhibitions in 2021 at a new outdoor space for sculpture based in the front yard of a back to back terraced house in Burley.

Edwin Woodhouse & Co Ltd ( Sunny Bank Mills Gallery): The Potential of Pattern: A Quartet of Conversations
A series on online artist conversations to accompany the Potential of Pattern exhibition at Sunny Bank Mills Gallery. The talks will be the first time the gallery has produced and hosted online content.

Assembly House CIC: COvideo-19
A participatory installation/event at Assembly House examining current issues of isolation, distance, surveillance and human contact.

Gill Crawshaw: Online exhibition for International Day of Disabled People
An online exhibition of work by disabled artists who are based in Leeds, as part of the International Day Of Disabled People.

Melissa-Annabel Ora Ataguba (Sable Radio): Sable Radio presents: Separation Anxiety
A 4 part online series hosted by Sable Radio, with each episode centred around a different Leeds based arts & music Collective.

Archipelago Arts Collective: Mother of the Revolution
A project with Leeds Industrial Museum to develop a new piece of participatory theatre about the female industrialist Betty Beacroft who owned Kirkstall Forge

James Heselwood: The Party People Project
An online themed disco event for adults with learning disabilities, with preceding dance and hosting workshops.

Mayowa Ogunnaike: Effort Theory
A short film and workshop exploring Laban's Effort Theory and its relevance to a wide range of art forms and artists beyond dance. The film will be accompanied by a Q&A between the dancer and a visual artist.

The Tetley: Superheroes Of Leeds
A public participation visual art project collecting stories and artworks about the acts of kindness and bravery shown by ordinary people during the Covid pandemic.

Tutti Community Concert Band: Christmas Bands Together
An online concert project for players from community bands to work together to create a Christmas performance of up to 100 musicians from across the city.

Tutti Frutti: The Snow Queen
The recording and distribution of the Snow Queen by Tutti Frutti. The short filmed performance will be distributed for free online and through local primary schools.

Leeds Baroque (Choir and Orchestra): Leeds Baroque Online
Support to record a concert and interviews for online broadcast for the 21st anniversary of Leeds Baroque in 2021.

Chapeltown Community Nursery: Community Photography
A photography project with nursery children and their parents by photographer Jonathan Turner.

Minoti Parikh: Planting the seeds for tomorrow
A set of five online workshops inspired by Indian Classical dance and working with Mesmac Sage group of older members of the LGBT+ community and with Touchstone members.

Carrieanne Cara Vivianette: What Are You Hungry For?         
Support to enable the filming and live streaming of the performance What Are You Hungry For? In community venues.

Crybaby Theatre: Am I Allowed to Dance?          
A new short outdoor dance work exploring body issues and discrimination in dance, performed by 6 dancers.

Meanwood Valley Partnership: A Mural for Meanwood              
A partnership project between Meanwood Valley Partnership and Meanwood Street Art to create a large mural in Meanwood centre, created by artists Hew Ma, Eggsi Stencilims and Cortisol Kid.

Ey Up Ltd (Old Red Bus Station): The Old Red Bus Station Poster Project              
A poster campaign using the large windows of Old Red Bus Station and bill poster sites in the city to show a series of artist/community generated posters with positive messages for the people of Leeds as lockdown lifts.

BasementArtsProject: Donna Coleman: The Screen Will Not Fill The Void             
A publication featuring the work of artist Donna Coleman and writing by Garry Barker that reflects on mental health and how we operate at times of heightened anxiety.

Jemma Mae Broomhead: Choose to Challenge All Day! IWD 2021           
Following on from last years viral dance video Write My Story, Jemma Mae and Zak Hamza will choreograph and film a new dance for IWD where participants are invited to learn the routine and submit their own clips

Saphire Browne (Female Magik): May We Play  
A day of playful creative activities for families in Potternewton Park in partnership with Bookchikkaboom.

James Hamilton: Eavesdrop      
A project to transport listeners into the wildlife rich worlds of Otley via soundscapes created from binaural field recordings and composed music. The recordings will be located around Otley and accessed via QR code.

Lubomir Jovanovic: DJ Lubi Socially Distanced Concerts @ Brudenell Social Club Leeds
Support for 12 socially distanced jazz/world/soul gigs by local musicians at Brudenell Social Club as we transition out of lockdown.

Alison McIntyre: Art Doctors Toolkit for Gallery Visits on Film  
A series of 10 playful short films demonstrating activities in the Toolkit For Gallery Visits, a playful resource to encourage people to engage with visual art.

Moveable Feast Productions: A Perfect World
Support towards R&D for a new solo storytelling production ‘A Perfect World’ –exploring themes of gender, sexuality and LGBTQ+ identities.

Patricia Jones: Community Highlights
A 25th Anniversary edition of the Community Highlights magazine featuring a special feature on RJC, commissioned cover and accompanied by poetry and art from young people created in workshops with Michelle Scally and Marcia Browne.

Open Source Arts: Affordable Theatre Programme            
A new series of performance shows and workshops from emerging artists hosted, recorded and live streamed by Open Source Arts.

Robb Barham Scalarama: Scalarama Summer Screenings
A series of 4 outdoor film screenings at Headingley HEART on the theme of Coming Home, selected by emerging programmers and the Scalarama Leeds team.

Same Difference Arts: Alice In Wonderland at Leeds Markets        
Two days of family friendly performances and workshops of Alice in Wonderland at Leeds Markets.

East Leeds Project: KIOSK  Taking Making to the People    
A two event tour of KIOSK, a mobile makerspace, and associated creative workshops to outdoor events in Gipton and Seacroft.

Sunken Studio Ltd: Pull Together              
Support to enable 150 people to take part in a series of online clay pulling workshops led by the potters at Sunken Studio and as part of the national Hey Craft! Festival.

Morley Art Gallery CIC: More than words              
A project with artist Arthur Seabrigg working with 10 men from MINT (Men In Need Together) to create work for an exhibition at the new Morley Art Gallery, as part of Morley Arts Trail.

Aeris Houlihan: I Can See Queerly Now   
A collaborative project with Come Play With Me. An exhibition and performance event of LGBQTIA+ artists at Belgrave Music Hall.
